ED 214 Assignment:  Marketing your Course

Introduction

Students will want to find out about your class before they sign up for it.  A good professional home page will help students get to know you and provide information about your classes.  In this assignment, you will create or update your Cuyamaca web site to include information about your online class.  You will need to create/edit your home page and create at least one course page for your online class.

If you don't know how to use FrontPage or Dreamweaver, contact Rocky Rose to create new pages and Nancy Perry to edit existing pages.  Since Rocky & Nancy may not be able to meet the deadline for this class and some of you do not have Cuyamaca web accounts, you may turn in Word documents instead of a Web site.

Here are some things to consider including as you create/update your home page:

  • contact information
  • personal biography
  • photo
  • office hours
  • links to the dynamic enrollment for your classes (just search the dynamic schedule for your name and class and copy and paste the URL into FrontPage)
  • a list of your courses with links to more information (course page, syllabus, etc.)
  • a link to WebCT or Blackboard

Your main course page should include general information for prospective students and link to more detailed information for enrolled students.  Your main page should include:

  • a brief description of the class
  • information about how your online class will work
  • what new students need to do to get started (including information about orientation, supplies, technical requirements, & books)
  • a link to your home page

Submitting work

  • If you have created/edited a web site, just turn in a Word file with the web address.
  • Upload and submit your file(s) to Blackboard.
