Introduction
You probably have a bunch of questions about teaching online, and while
I could answer your questions, it's useful to get a variety of perspectives. So
. . . in this assignment, you will compile some questions, find
an online teacher, and interview that teacher. You may work alone
or in a group of 2-3 people. During the first week, you'll write
and share your questions. During
the second week, you'll find and interview a teacher, and during the
3rd week you will share and discuss results.
What to Do
- Write at least 10 questions and post them to the
Blackboard discussion (you will get discussion points for that). Read
your classmates' questions and adapt your own questions if you wish.
- Find a teacher to interview. You may choose
a teacher who is teaching fully online or blended (partially online).
Here are some resources:
- Online
classes at Cuyamaca & Grossmont
- California Virtual
Campus Catalog (might help you find an
online teacher in your discipline)
- Conduct your interview in person (preferred),
by phone, or e-mail. You could also use videoconferencing or
instant messaging. Take notes!
- Submit a 1-paragraph summary to Blackboard Assignments
(Word or text document).
- Share your impressions in a face-to-face (f2f) class
discussion OR online discussion. Did anything surprise you? Worry
you? Excite you?
Submitting work
- Upload and submit your file to Blackboard. If working in a group,
each person should submit a document.
