Introduction
Once your main page comps are approved, you will need to create a coordinating sub-page design. While the purpose of a home page is to provide orientation to the site, the role of a sub-page is to display content. Thus, a sub-page needs to have most of its space devoted to content.
Repetition of logos, titles, colors, fonts and navigation are what help make a site consistent, professional-looking, and easy to use. It is common, though, to shrink the logo and navigation to make more room for the content. A subpage also needs to display a prominent page title that helps convey the topic of the page. What to Do
- Using your main page design as a guide, use Fireworks
or Photoshop to create a subpage design that follows the above guidelines. Make
sure there you navigation includes a "home" button. Follow
all the design advice described in the main page instructions.
- Create some content (can be fake) to illustrate what
a page would actually look like.
- Save your comp as a gif or jpg, put it in your local_root folder, and upload it. Insert the image on your 217homework.htm or add a link to it from 217homework.htm. You will turn in the png or psd file to Blackboard.
Submitting work
- Submit subpage.png or subpage.psd to Blackboard.
