The Final exam will be online during finals week.
Topics
The open book final exam will cover the entire semester and is worth 100 points (~10% of your final grade).
Part 1 is worth 50 points and will consist of 5 brief essay questions randomly drawn from a pool questions. You will have 30 minutes to complete this part of the final. Questions will cover the whole semester.
For the practical part of the exam, you will create a simple, database-enabled web site. I will give you the name of the database and table already created on the cis9 server. You will be expected to do basic Dreamweaver and database integration techniques such as:
- CSS (external CSS to style multi-column layout, font, background, links, etc.)
- libraries
- connection
- detail page
- recordset paging
- insert record
- edit record (filtered recordset)
- list records
- link to detail
I have created a Database Integration Review handout with main points outlined.
You will get 2 hours to complete the practical, so make sure you have enough uninterrupted time to finish before you begin. Contact me right away if you have technical problems. You get one "free" question if you get stuck - after that they will cost you points.
