CIS 212 covers design and production of Web
sites using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, an industry standard for Web
development. Past students describe the class as exciting and rewarding.
Here are examples of final projects created by spring 2008 students.
Learn Online or Face-to-Face
CIS 212 is offered online and face-to-face (with 2 online hours per week). I will teach both the face-to-face section and the online sections in the Fall 2008 semester.
Online students need to have access to a reliable computer with Dreamweaver CS3 and a high bandwidth Internet connection. See How an Online Class Works for details.
Fall 2008 Students
Fall classes begin August 25. I'm still working on updating the schedule and web site.
Section 1181: Tuesday 11:00AM - 1:50PM, room H113 - SECTION FULL*
Section 1185: SECTION FULL*
Section 4696: CANCELLED
*When a Class is Full:
When a class is full it closes. If the wait list is NOT yet available then check the dynamic list frequently. If another student drops you can take that spot. If the wait list IS available then sign up for the class. Students will be added in their wait list order. The wait list opens 1 week before the class start date for spring & fall semesters. If a wait list is long enough, another section is sometimes created.
You could also enroll in one of the online sections.

If you prefer video instruction, you may subscribe to Lynda.com INSTEAD OF or in addition to using the Hands On Training textbook - student rate is about $40 for the semester and includes:
The first few "chapters" are free, so click one of the above links to try it out. You only need one account for CIS 212 and GD 217. See system requirements. Instructions will be provided the first week of class. I realize that $40 is a lot of money for many students, so consider teaming with another student or two to share an account (only one can log in at a time, so compare schedules). |
ONLINE STUDENTS
Here's what you need to do in August:
- send me an e-mail after you enroll
- complete the student information form
- purchase and install Dreamweaver CS3 (see syllabus for academic pricing)
- purchase textbooks
- after class begins, login to Blackboard and complete ONLINE ORIENTATION
Blackboard is used for class management (quizzes, grades, turning
in work, discussion), so part of the online orientation assignment
is to do some things in Blackboard. All course Web pages link to the Blackboard login. Let me know if you are unable to
log in to Blackboard after the first day of class with your college
user name (usually firstlast) and PIN (usually 6-digit birthday).
It will probably take a few weeks to get used to how I do things. Plan to spend a little extra time at first and don't hesitate to email or stop in during office hours if you feel lost. That's why I get the big bucks. :-)
