California Community Colleges offer small class sizes and dedicated teachers at an incredible price.

Brief Description

CIS 212 covers design and production of Web sites using Adobe Dreamweaver, an industry standard for Web development.  Past students describe the class as exciting and rewarding.

Here are examples of recent student work.

Learn Online or Face-to-Face

CIS 212 is offered online and face-to-face hybrid (with 2 online hours per week).  I will teach both the face-to-face section and the online section in the Fall 2009 semester.

Online students need to have access to a reliable computer with a broadband Internet connection and Dreamweaver CS4 (CS3 is ok, but you will have to adjust to small differences between learning materials and Dreamweaver interface). See How an Online Class Works for details.

Fall 2009

Fall classes begin August 24. The course will be ready when the semester begins. You should receive a welcome email with instructions the day before classes begin. This email is sent from Moodle to the email address you provided to WebAdvisor (do you need to see how to change your WebAdvisor address?) Contact me if you don't get a welcome email.

Section 1185 & 1181 are full and section 8764 was cancelled due to budget cuts. You can still sign up for a wait list, and students will be added in their wait list order after the 8 students in the cancelled section are added. I will email you with an add code during the first week if there is space.

If you feel frustrated, I urge you to contact your legislators to let them know how the budget cuts have affected your education.

Here's what you can do in August before class begins:

Textbooks - available at the campus bookstore or online

Don't Make Me Think, 2nd edition
Steve Krug, Roger Black
ISBN: 0321344758
$26 on Amazon
1 copy available for one-day checkout at library reserve

Dreamweaver CS4 Visual Quickstart Guide
Tom Negrino & Dori Smith
ISBN: 0321573528
$20 on Amazon

Lynda.com video training
recommended, especially for visual learners
5 full accounts will be available to share
details will be announced when class begins

It will probably take a few weeks to get used to how I do things.  Plan to spend a little extra time at first and don't hesitate to email or stop in during office hours if you feel lost.   That's why I get the big bucks.  :-)
